Playing the guitar in your living room can make you feel like a real rocker.
Have you ever wanted to be in a rock band? Now you can--in your own living room! "Rock Band" is a new game created for most gaming platforms which allows you to play the drums, lead guitar, bass or sing. You can play with one to four players, and enjoy being a real rocker for a song or two. The guitar in "Rock Band" is fairly easy to play, once you get used to the controller and how the game works.
Instructions
1. Place the guitar on your body by swinging the strap over your head and right arm, so the strap rests on your left shoulder. Adjust the strap so the guitar is at a comfortable height for you to reach the finger keys and the strum bar. If you are left handed, you can switch the guitar strap so it rests on your right shoulder and you will strum with your left hand. If you choose to do this, make sure you make the change in the game itself to switch from a right-handed to left-handed guitar player.
2. Place the fingers of your left hand on the guitar keys. These are the chords. You will push the indicated color button at the same time you strum with your right hand to create the proper combination in the game. If you are left-handed, you will play the chords with the right hand and strum with the left.
3. Choose a song. To join the game and pick songs, you will use the green button to select. Use red to go back to the previous menu, and the strum bar to scroll through the songs or other options on the screen.
4. Follow the notes as they come down the screen. The guitar will be on the left side of the screen when you are playing with a full band. You must strum and push the correct colored button at the same time when the colored note hits the point between the yellow bars at the bottom of the screen to gain points. If you miss too many notes, you will fail out. You are allowed three fails before you fail the entire song and have to start from the beginning.
5. Tilt the guitar upright when the yellow bar at the bottom of the screen is full. This gives you a "power up" and puts you into "overdrive." There is a proprioceptor in the guitar and it will note when you tilt the guitar, sending the game into overdrive. The overdrive mode allows you to gain more points, and also allows you to save a fellow bandmate who has failed out.
