Put The Weight Back On After A Weighin

Boxers may want to lose weight before a weigh-in, then gain it back before a fight.

Whether you're a wrestler, boxer, or do mixed martial arts, weighing into the correct class before a fight is important. In order to weigh into a lower weight group, many fighters attempt to lose weight before a weigh-in. However, weigh-ins often take place the day before a fight. Gaining the lost weight back is important in order to have an edge over the others in your weight class, and in order to protect your health. Rapid weight loss and gain is dangerous if it is not done correctly.

Instructions

1. Drink clean, fresh water immediately after the weigh-in. Keep drinking constantly until your urine is clear, indicating that you are hydrated.

2. Eat small, carbohydrate-heavy meals every 30 minutes. Carbohydrates are important at this stage to rebuild your blood pressure levels, which may be lowered by rapid weight loss.

3. Make yourself a smoothie that includes orange juice or another juice heavy in Vitamin C, and a fiber, like whey. This gives your body energy and vitamins it needs to replenish.

4. Take protein supplements or eat something high in protein that will be easy on your stomach, like tuna, to ensure a lack of muscle loss.
