In most states, you can find out if you have passed the NCLEX within days of taking the exam.
The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) tests graduating nurses on the knowledge and skills required to perform the job of a nurse. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing, the regulating body for all boards of nursing, administers the NCLEX. Candidates may wait a few weeks for their state board of nursing to send their scores or they can check the unofficial results two days after taking the exam, for a fee. Forty states allow NCLEX candidates to view their results early.
Instructions
1. Visit the NCLEX Candidate Website hosted by PearsonVue (pearsonvue.com/nclex). Click "My Account" and enter your username and password on the following page. This is the login information you created when you registered with PearsonVue to take the NCLEX.
2. Look for your current test, the NCLEX, under "Recent Appointments" and click "Status." Double-click "Quick Results." A credit card payment page appears if your results are available. It costs $7.95 to view your results online, as of April of 2011.
3. Enter your payment information and click "Continue." Confirm the transaction to proceed and wait for the program to display your NCLEX score.
4. Obtain your results via phone, if this is preferable. Call the NCLEX Quick Results line at 1-900-776-2539. This service costs $9.95 and the amount is charged to your phone bill.
5. Be aware that the results you receive via the Internet and by phone are unofficial and are not sufficient for employment. Your board of nursing is the only source of official results that qualify you for employment.
6. Wait for official results from your state board of nursing if you are not in any hurry and do not wish to pay the fees for faster, but unofficial, results. The boards usually mail the official results within three weeks of the date of the exam.
