Visually inspect the video cable's pins. They should be upright and not pushed in.
As with most computer hardware manufacturers, Sony's monitors are now produced using LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) technology rather than using the old system of Cathode Ray Tubes. These newer screens are thinner, more energy efficient and cheaper to recycle. Sony's monitors feature ergonomic controls and integrated speakers. However, as with old CRT monitors, problems still include error messages, flickering, bouncing, and oscillating or scrambled images. These issues can be corrected by following some troubleshooting steps.
Instructions
1. Verify that the video signal cable is connected if "Cable Disconnected" appears on the screen. The message refers to the video cable rather than the power cable, because the screen would be blank and no lights would illuminate at all if the power cable was disconnected.
2. Check that the video cable's pins are intact if "No Input Signal" appears on the screen. Unplug the video cable and visually inspect the pins. They should be upright and not pushed in. Discard the cable and replace it if the pins are damaged.
3. Isolate and eliminate any sources of nearby electrical energy that can cause interference if the monitor displays flickering, bouncing, oscillating and scrambled images. The cause is likely interference. Switch electrical items off one-by-one until you identify the cause. Then move the interference-causing device away from the monitor. Remove video extension leads and video switch boxes if you see ghosting on the screen.
4. Plug the monitor into a different computer, or plug a different computer into the Sony monitor to identify if any issues are caused by a connected computer or other equipment--and not caused by the monitor.
