Take Atenolol

Take Atenolol

Atenolol is the generic name for the prescription drug Tenormin. It is a member of a family of drugs known as beta-blockers, which are used to affect the circulation of blood through the veins and heart. Atenolol is used for heart-related conditions including angina, hypertension and the treatment and prevention of heart attacks.

Instructions

1. Listen to your doctor and read the prescription before taking Atenolol. Follow the prescription instructions exactly as you are told. Do not take any more Atenolol than is prescribed by your doctor.

2. Take Atenolol with a full glass of water at the same time every day. For Atenolol to work properly it needs to be taken at a set time.

3. Use Atenolol with a proper diet and exercise program to help treat hypertension. Consult with your physician before beginning any exercise program to ensure it is the healthiest option. Maintaining a healthy weight in addition to taking Atenolol will greatly improve the medicine's success.

4. Make regular doctor's visits while taking Atenolol. Your doctor will schedule regular check-ups to check your blood pressure and ensure Atenolol is working properly. It is important to make these appointments.

5. Ask your doctor whether you should continue using Atenolol even if you begin feeling better. Just because you have no symptoms for hypertension does not guarantee that your blood pressure is within an acceptable range. You may need to use Atenolol for the rest of your life.
