Troubleshoot Power Problems With a Vaio Laptop
Like many laptops, Sony Vaio laptops tend to have power problems when they got older. With time, the battery life of your laptop diminishes, which results in power problems. There is really no one way to fix this issue, but there are a few things you can do to lower the chances of your Vaio laptop having power issues.
Instructions
1. Consider replacing your laptop battery if your Vaio computer is more than four years old. Also, make sure the green light on your power adapter is glowing. If it isn't, you will need to purchase a new power adapter. Visit an authorized "Sony Style" store in your local area to purchase either of these accessories. You can also purchase these online.
2. Check the power outlet. Make sure to use a surge protector to prevent power problems on your Vaio laptop. Surge protectors are available in most electronic stores.
3. Click on the battery icon on your taskbar. It is located on the botton right hand side next to the clock.
4. Select a power plan that balances both "Battery Life" and "Performance." If you use Windows Vista or higher, select the option "Balanced." If you use Windows XP, click on the "Power Scheme" drop-down menu and make a selection based on your circumstances.
5. Press "Fn" and "F5" to dim your screen. This will significantly save your battery usage and may fix some of the power problems that you may be having.
6. Go to an authorized "Sony Style" store if none of the above steps fix your power problem. Do not try to open your laptop by yourself. Doing so may void your manufacturer's warranty.
