Instructions
1. Start by serving yourself only small portions to begin with. If it is a large meal, most likely there will be more leftovers for you to take seconds. Remember, it isn't a race for food!
2. Use the fork down method. Every time you take a bite, put your fork down immediately. The more we hold our fork in our hands, the more we are tempted to keep shoveling it in.
3. Chew your food as much as you can. Chew thoroughly and pay attention to texture, taste and substance. The more you chew your food, the more you will feel full and be able to swallow properly.
4. Drink water in between bites and a lot of it. Water can help us feel full and works as a detoxifying agent. It will keep you from racing through your food.
5. Stop after each bite and make conversation. Talking through a meal, but not while chewing, can make you halt and slow down your eating habits.
