Find Out How Much A Job Pays

Find Out How Much a Job Pays

Although many private websites list salaries for various jobs and career paths, keep in mind that the information may be based on limited samples. As you research salaries, look for data specific to your location and keep in mind that salary is often commensurate with a worker's professional experience, skills and educational background.

Instructions

1. Contact employers directly. Upon request, human resource departments may be willing to disclose the salary range for various positions in their company.

2. Talk to employment agencies and career counselors. Career service centers at job banks and community colleges often have written resources for their clients that provide salary information, as well as information on what benefits come with each job.

3. Use government resources. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics compiles information about various positions and what they pay. Their materials are available both on their website and in printed form.

4. Search job listings for similar positions in your area. Although you may not be able to find out how much a job with a specific company pays, reading job listings for positions in your area that have similar responsibilities and require the same experience can give you an estimate of what a job will pay.
