Edit Vocals On Fl Studios

Recorded vocals usually require editing before you can incorporate them into a song. Editing a vocal involves separating it into its components, removing unwanted sections and adjusting the timing and positioning of the various vocal parts. FL Studio's Playlist editor allows you to edit vocals using an intuitive graphical interface, then save the edited vocals for use in a future project. FL Studio can import and edit vocal tracks recorded in the WAV, MP3 and OGG digital audio formats.

Instructions

1. Launch FL Studio. Open the "View" menu and click "Playlist" to open the multichannel playlist window.

2. Navigate to the vocal you want to edit in the file browser on the left side of the FL Studio window. Drag and drop the vocal from the browser into the Playlist window. FL Studio automatically creates a new audio channel for the vocal.

3. Click the "Snap to Grid" icon, which looks like a magnet, in the Playlist window. Select "None." This enables you to make precise adjustments to the vocal.

4. Click the "Slice" icon, which looks like a razor blade, at the top of the Playlist window. Position the cursor at the point at which you want to slice the vocal, just above the top of the vocal waveform. Click and drag the razor down to the bottom of the waveform to slice the vocal into two parts. Repeat the process for any other slices you want to make.

5. Click the "Draw" or "Paint" icon to disable the Slice tool. Move the cursor over a piece of sliced audio. Click and drag it left or right to position it as desired. Repeat the process for the rest of the audio.

6. Shorten a piece of the vocal by clicking and dragging its edges toward each other. Drag them away from each other to lengthen the vocal piece. To delete a piece of the vocal, right-click it.

7. Click "File," then "Save." Type in a name for the edited vocal and press "Enter" to save it as an FL Studio project. You can now add instrumental elements to the edited vocal as desired.
