Make A Winnie The Pooh Diaper Cake

Both practical and creative, a diaper cake will steal the show at your next baby shower.

Building a diaper cake for an expectant mother provides her with necessary items in an innovative way. Instead of fretting over the decorations for your upcoming baby shower, consider making a Winnie the Pooh diaper cake for a jaw-dropping centerpiece. Simple to transport, take a diaper cake to a new mommy in the hospital or the home of parents recently blessed with an adopted baby. With a minor investment of money and time, you will build a memorable and practical gift that will delight any expectant parent.

Instructions

1. Buy the items for your diaper cake. Decide on the main colors of your cake and choose ribbon that complements those colors. Look for Winnie the Pooh patterned ribbon with a blue, pink, or yellow background, depending on the gender of the expected baby.

2. Lay out 35 of the diapers. Take 17 of the diapers and roll them up, one at a time, tightly. Roll the diaper from the front to the back of the diaper. Hold each rolled diaper together by placing a rubber band around the center of the diaper.

3. Put the large bottle of baby lotion in the center of the cake platter. Place 5 or 6 of the tightly rolled diapers around the lotion and secure them with a big rubber band around the outside of the ring. Place 11 to 12 of the tightly rolled diapers around the first ring and secure them with a large rubber band wrapped around the outside of the second ring.

4. Create the final ring for the bottom tier of your diaper cake. Roll 18 to 20 diapers tightly as in the preceding rings, but wrap them with a small piece of the thin ribbon instead of a rubber band. Place these diapers outside the second ring of diapers and secure them by wrapping the wide ribbon around the outside of the third ring. Tie the ribbon in a bow or pin in place.

5. Form the second tier of your diaper cake as you did the first two rings of your first tier. Begin by rolling 17 diapers tightly and secure 5 to 6 of them with a rubber band and 11 to 12 of them with thin ribbon tied around their centers.

6. Place the 5 or 6 rubber band-rolled diapers around the top part of the lotion sticking out of tier one. Secure these diapers by wrapping a large rubber band around the outside of the ring. Make the second ring for your second tier and place the 11 to 12 ribbon-rolled diapers around the outside of the first ring. Secure them with a wide ribbon tied or pinned around the circumference of the second ring.

7. Create your third and final tier. Tightly roll 5 to 6 diapers and secure them with thin ribbon. Take the 8-inch Pooh and place the rolled diapers in a circle around the bottom. Tie the top tier tightly with wide ribbon and make a bow or pin the ribbon in place. Place the third tier on top of the first two tiers.

8. Decorate your diaper cake. Pin Winnie the Pooh bibs and socks to the diapers for a creative touch. Attach pacifiers, teethers, and other baby items by putting a baby link around the wide ribbon and attaching the baby item to the link. Miniature Pooh dolls can rest on the tiers or be pinned in place.
