Lose Weight For Your Partner

Working out with a partner can give you more motivation.

Weight loss has many positive effects for your health. Losing weight can reduce your risk of serious diseases, including heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Weight loss can also make you look more attractive. Although you need to be motivated to lose weight for yourself, you may also want to do so for your partner. You may want to be more attractive to your partner, or to provide an incentive for your partner to lose weight. It can, however, be a sensitive situation. You should lose weight because it is your choice.

Instructions

1. Get more exercise. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends getting 60 to 90 minutes of aerobic exercise on most days of the week, especially when you want to lose weight. If you are not currently exercising, you can start with shorter intervals and work up to the daily recommended amounts. Try exercises that raises your heart rate, such as jogging, brisk walking, swimming, biking and dancing.

2. Reduce your calories. Reduce your daily calorie intake by 500 to 1,000 calories to lose one to two pounds per week. Cut out sources of empty, unnecessary calories, such as sodas, large portions, desserts and fast foods. Make sure the calories you consume provide the maximum nutritional benefit and keep you feeling full and satisfied. Eat a balance of lean meats, poultry and fish with whole grains, fruits and vegetables.

3. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water daily. The University of Maryland Medical Center reports that drinking the recommended eight to 10 glasses of water each day can help you lose weight by flushing out excess water from your kidneys, which in turn reduces weight from water retention. Sometimes you are actually thirsty when you feel hungry, so drinking a glass of water can keep you from eating when you aren't actually hungry.

4. Enlist the help of your partner in developing and maintaining the habits that lead to sustained weight loss. Working out and eating healthy foods along with your partner can give you the needed moral support to motivate you. You can view these healthy habits as good things you are doing for each other. In the end, however, find your own inspiration to inspire your own weight loss.
