Make A Computer Desktop Vertical

If you want to use your computer for reading long documents or using applications that require more length then width, then there is an easy way to change your desktops orientation. There could be any number of reasons you may want a vertical or even an upside down desktop and thankfully most video cards and versions of Windows have this built in capability.

Instructions

1. Use the "Hotkeys". Press the "Ctrl" button at the same time with the "Alt" button and one of the arrow keys, this may do the trick. One direction may turn it on it's side and the up arrow may put the desktop back to horizontal.

2. Search in your video setting properties. Right click on your desktop and select "Properties" or "Graphic Properties". Click on the "Settings" tab and then click "advanced". Look under all the different tabs in this section, the settings could be anywhere. Try to find something similar to "accelerator driver" and then "graphics properties". Look for "Hotkeys Settings". This will list and or allow you to change the "Hotkeys" that let you change screen orientation.

3. Go to the manufacturers website. If you are unable to change your desktop with the previous two steps, visit the manufacturer of your video card's website. Search for new drivers by selecting your video card type under the support section in one of the drop-down selection boxes. Download the latest drivers and install them by going to "Control Panel" then "System hardware". Click on "Device manager" and expand the "Sound Video and Game Controllers" section. Click on your video card and select the "Driver" tab. Click on "Update Driver" and choose the new driver you downloaded.
