Make The Top Part Of Your Body Smaller

Eating veggies can help you slim up on top.


Traditionally, the problem area of the body that is most complained about is the bottom, and there are an abundance of tips on slim your thighs and buttocks. But what if you are interested in making the top part of the body smaller? Try a combination of healthy, toning exercises to combat the problem areas of arms, chest and stomach, and use intelligent choices of clothing to emphasize the lower portion of the body.

1. Add cardio-aerobic exercise to your routine. Walking, running, riding a bike, swimming and dancing are all good choices for helping to slim the upper body. Even though many of these exercises target the lower body, the results of cardio-aerobic exercises can be seen throughout the whole body.


2. Develop muscle tone to look slimmer on the top. Start with toning exercises that target the part of the upper body you would like to look slimmer. Perform arm exercises in high repetitions with small weights to develop muscle and burn fat, but not build bulk. Sit-ups and crunches can help to make the stomach look smaller as you replace stomach fat with new muscle.


3. Make healthy choices when it comes to food, and stay away from carbohydrate- and sugar-laden foods. A good diet for slimming the body involves lots of water to rehydrate the body, an abundance of fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, low-fat dairy products, and whole grains. Eat meals and snacks in moderation.


4. Make the upper body appear to be smaller by choosing your dress wisely. Dress in a way that plays down the top part of the body and emphasizes the bottom portion. For men and women this means wearing patterns or bold colors on the bottom of the body and steering away from block, horizontal stripes or horizontal color-blocking. Choose light colors on the top, and leave the bottom of the body free for statement articles of clothing.


5. Have your hormones, thyroid and blood sugar levels checked by your physician to be sure there aren't any biological issues that could be a hindrance to your weight loss.
