Fly After Ivf

Keep your body and mind relaxed during your flight.

Many couples going through infertility make the choice to do In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) which is the transfer ofa fertilized embryo into the woman's uterus. While there are fertility clinics which do this procedure across the world, you may choose a clinic out-of-state, which requires you to fly back home following the procedure. For this and other reasons for flying after IVF, you follow certain precautions for safe flight travel.

Instructions

1. Wait at least 24 hours after your embryo transfer to travel on an airplane. You need this time to rest your body.

2. Arrive at the airport at least two hours early so that you are not being rushed and causing any unnecessary stress.

3. Ask for a wheelchair once you get to the airport, especially if you have a long distance to the terminal.

4. Avoid lifting any luggage except for a light carry-on bag. You should not do any heavy lifting for at least 48 hours following the transfer.

5. Drink plenty of fluids during the flight such as water and juice. During this time, it is important to remain hydrated.
