Increase Laptop Cooling

Increase laptop cooling to keep your laptop in good condition.

By the nature of their design, laptop computers often present challenges as you strive to keep them running cool and efficiently. Depending on your laptop's configuration and internal cooling system, you may have trouble keeping it from overheating. If your laptop runs hot, increase laptop cooling to preserve the components and extend the life of your computer. With basic precautions, you can control how warm your laptop becomes and keep it running efficiently.

Instructions

1. Examine the bottom of your laptop to find the vents and fans. Make sure nothing blocks any of these important vents, decreasing the ability of the vents to cool your computer.

2. Clean the vents to remove accumulated dust. Use the compressed air duster to clear the vent area. Direct the spray onto the vents to remove the dust.

3. Place the laptop onto a special cooling pad designed to increase airflow beneath the laptop. The cooling pad may connect to a USB port for power or it may have a power adapter for electrical power. Keep the cooling pad running while you use your laptop.

4. Conserve laptop resources by not overtaxing your computer with too many programs at one time. Use only one or two programs at one time, keep only one or two browser windows open at once and minimize the number of USB devices you use at one time.
