Get Signed With Jonas Records

To get signed to any pop label, you must first write a hit song or have the potential to do so.

Getting signed to a record label is a very difficult goal that many bands and artists are unable to achieve. Targeting a specific record label, such as Jonas Records, involves a plan that allows you to get access to the Jonas Brothers or any of the business associates of their record label. You must first make sure that you fit on their roster, but you must also make friends with or hire people closely associated with the band or the record label itself.

Instructions

1. Adjust your musical style as necessary to fit in with the rest of the musical roster at Jonas Records. Most smaller record labels do not have the capital to have separate marketing budgets for each artist, so they choose artists that play similar styles. Jonas Records signs pop acts, so make sure you fit into that category before trying to get signed by this particular label.

2. Record a demo and assemble a promo kit and send it off to Jonas Records. Jonas Records will not be looking for you, so you must let them know that you are interested. If they take unsolicited material, you may get a call from them with some interest. If they do not, you will have to find other channels to get signed as they will not accept your package or simply throw it away.

3. Hire a manager who has connections with Jonas Records. When you are trying to get signed by a particular record label, it is imperative to work with people who can get you heard by label executives. Choose a manager who has ties to the Jonas Brothers or their label and send him material or set up a showcase for him to attend to show off your skills.

4. Buy onto a Jonas Brothers tour or single tour date. Larger acts often accept money for opening slots. You can speak with the Jonas Brothers' booking agent to find out the cost of an opening slot. You are more likely to be heard by someone associated with the Jonas Brothers or their label if you play right before them. Introduce yourselves to all the people you can backstage to try to make a connection and hand out demos to them whenever possible.

5. Get backstage passes to a Jonas Brothers concert. Backstage passes often give you access to the big stars. Once you have any or all of the Jonas Brothers in front of you, pitch your band and give them your press kit. Although it is a long shot, they may be interested and at least give that packet to a business associate to check out. If you are polite and do not bother them after that encounter, you may have a chance.
