Get An 18inch Waist

New diets and medical procedures regularly promise a solution to being overweight. Some diets are more dangerous than the extra weight they promise you'll lose. Care should be taken whenever starting a new weight loss or exercise regimen. If you are trying to achieve an 18-inch waist, the only way to do it safely, without surgery, is through a healthy, diligent diet and monitored training program.

Instructions

1. Consult with your physician. Your doctor should always be a part of any lifestyle choices that are designed to alter your body. Your natural frame may make an 18-inch waist an unreasonable goal, but your doctor can help you with dietary choices and exercise options that will help you get as close to it as possible.

2. Eliminate sweets, saturated fat and cholesterol from your diet as much as possible. Each of these contribute to weight gain. Eat more fruits and vegetables in accordance with your doctor's recommendations. Fish and brown rice are also useful dietary choices as long as you are limiting your intake.

3. Exercise regularly for at least 30 minutes each day. Talk to a trainer to come up with a specialized program to help you achieve your waistline goals. Running, stair climbing and cross-country skiing simulation are all useful aerobic exercises for elevating your heart rate, burning calories and shedding pounds. Focus on abdominal exercises to further tone your waistline. Add muscle in general will accelerate your metabolism and help you get a trimmer waistline.

4. Measure your waistline every couple weeks to see how much progress you've made toward your 18-inch goal. Avoid measuring more frequently than this, since it may lead lead to frustration if results aren't coming faster. Weight loss requires patience and diligence.

5. Wear a corset to sculpt your waist if you are within a few inches of your goal. Tightening it too much can be hazardous, but corsets have been used to give women an "hourglass" figure and will reduce the waistline when worn.
