Get Rid Of Scar Tissue

Removing scar tissue.

After surgery scar tissue will be present on the part of the body that was subject to the surgical incision. Scar tissue is a natural occurrence as your body starts to heal, and can be either permanent or temporary. Scar tissue does not only appear on the skin either--it can also appear on internal organs, in which case it can cause problems with the organ's functions. There are ways to decrease the appearance of scar tissue on skin, however, and they include vitamins, massages, plastic surgery, and some creams.

Instructions

1. Talk with a professional. A plastic surgeon or a dermatologist can offer you advice and tips about go about removing a scar surgically. Scar tissue that occurs because of surgical incisions is much easier to remove by these methods than other types of scar tissue. However, removing internal scars can be dangerous and complicated. Techniques that are used for removing external scar tissue include skin grafts and dermabrasion. The best time to discuss these procedures with a professional is right as the scar starts to form.

2. Research your choices for removing the scar without surgery. Dermatologists and plastic surgeons will often have non-surgical options available. Chemical peels are one of these procedures, and the recovery time is only a few hours.

3. Start a light massage or deep-tissue massage routine. This will help to lessen scarring both internally and externally because it increases the amount of blood flow in the area that is scarring. It also breaks down the scar tissue as pressure is put on the area. While massaging the area can cause pain, it will eventually lessen the visibility of any scar tissue and will even reduce pain around the scar. Like surgery, a massage is best when done as the scar is just starting to form.

4. Utilize creams and other products that are available over the counter. Any cream with a high vitamin E content will help to heal the scar quicker. However, such treatments are not effective for severe scarring. For lesser scarring, though, they will make scars softer and more difficult to see on the skin. A good cream to use for this is the Retin-A prescription cream. You can also go to a dermatologist and get prescribed creams.
