Fix Xp Wireless

Fixing your Windows XP wireless connection may require only a few minor adjustments.


Being able to wirelessly connect to the Internet can provide convenience no matter what your lifestyle might be. Whether you connect wirelessly for business or leisure, Wi-Fi connection issues can be a hindrance. Fixing a Windows XP wireless network connection can often be done by making a few minor adjustments to your computer.


Instructions


1. Determine the brand of wireless network card installed in your computer. Click the "Start" menu and then click "Control Panel." Select "Performance and Maintenance." Select "System." Click on the "Hardware" tab and then click "Device Manager." Click the box located next to "Network Adapters" to expand the menu and show your brand of wireless network card.


2. Update the drivers for your wireless network card. Navigate to the website of the manufacturer of your card and locate the "Support" page. Find the most recently dated drivers available. Choose "Save As" in the download box and save the drivers to your computer. Locate your download and double-click to start installation. Follow the prompts.


3. Update the firmware for your wireless router. Determine your router brand and model by referring to the software manual that accompanied the device. Follow the same steps given above to update the wireless network card.


4. Repair your wireless connection. Click the "Start" button, then click "Control Panel." Select "Network Connections." Right-click the icon that corresponds to your wireless network and select "Repair" on the pop-up menu. Windows XP will begin the process of repairing your wireless connection.
