Wear A Maternity Support Belt

Maternity support belts ease the weight of the baby.

A maternity support belt helps distribute the abdominal weight during your pregnancy. The belt can help reduce pregnancy-related back pain, as indicated by the website MayoClinic.com. Maternity support belts also alleviate aches associated with abdominal stretching, as well as support the abdomen during exercise. Many support belts are made of a stretchy fabric and straps you can adjust with the growth of your pregnancy.

Instructions

1. Get fitted for a maternity support belt, as there are various types of support products. The variance in styles depends on what form of support you're looking for (ex. abdominal pressure relief or for exercise).

2. Place the abdominal support pad directly under your abdomen. Ensure that the pad lifts your abdomen comfortably, without resting on your thighs. Secure the pad in place by fastening the Velcro hook in place.

3. Grab the support belt with one hand and slide the belt behind your back. With both hands, stretch the belt around your abdomen. Secure the belt to the abdominal pad.

4. Adjust the belt accordingly. Avoid letting the Velcro strips rest on your skin. This will prevent friction from the belt.

5. Lay on your back to get additional support for your abdomen. With your knees bent, release the straps on the belt, re-stretch the belt and attach the belt to your abdominal pad. Try this method to provide relief from backaches.
