Wired or wireless connections may fail or have errors in Windows XP. The Network Connection utilities in Windows XP have a repair function that has Windows automatically attempt to fix your connection problems. Network Connection repairs disable and enable the network adapter, release and renew the adapter's IP and clears out several caches. You do not need to have a home network set up to use the Network Connection repair feature. It also works with direct connections to a modem.
