You can listen to many police scanners on the Internet.
When you don't have a police scanner, you still may want a means to listen to scanner reports in your area. Although not all areas have police frequencies on the Internet, many larger cities have a connection online where you can listen to the action as it happens. Many websites supply listeners with police, fire and community frequencies.
Instructions
1. Visit the website DX Zone. You will find a list of usable websites or you can scroll to the bottom to find a list of cities that have police frequencies online.
2. Check to see if you have the Adobe Flash Player on your computer. Most stations will require this software to work.
3. Click on the city that you wish to hear. For instance, if you want to listen to the Tucson, Arizona police and fire frequency, you will be directed to a pop-up providing the StarNet radio scanner to your computer. Sheboygan, Wisconsin allows you to listen with Media Player.
4. Complete the download of any particular audio software if needed and start listening to the police scanner. The site will tell you what you need. You may hear some long gaps in conversation, but this is normal.
