Lose Weight With Sibutramine

Lose Weight with Sibutramine

Sibutramine is the generic equivalent of the weight loss prescription drug Meridia. A class-controlled substance in the United States, sibutramine is an appetite suppressant that works by controlling the amount of seratonin that the brain produces and thus controlling both hunger and thoughts about food. Sibutramine is normally only prescribed to people who are 30 lbs or more over a healthy weight for their body frame. Over a twelve month study, people who took sibutramine in addition to a reduced calorie diet and other lifestyle changes lost 20% more weight than those who only modified their diet.

Instructions

1. Take only one pill per day. It can be tempting if you are not seeing immediate and drastic weight loss to increase your dosage. Instead, focus more on exercising and increasing your fiber intake and adopting a low-fat diet.

2. Eat healthily. Sibutramine will work better with a low-fat, high-fiber diet. While you may think that because you are eating less, you can still eat high fat, processed food you will see better results by maintaining a healthier diet while taking sibutramine.

3. Snack often. Sibutramine is an appetite suppressant and so it is likely that you will not feel hungry nor will you think about food during the day. In order to prevent your metabolism from slowing to protect itself from what it thinks is impending starvation, it is important to eat small, healthy snacks several times throughout the day.

4. Boost your exercise. Even increasing your daily activity a little will help with weight loss while taking sibutramine. Try to exercise at least three times per week or as prescribed by your doctor. If you do not like to go to the gym, try walking more or take a fun class like belly-dancing, karate, or water based exercise classes.

5. Measure your success. Remember that weight loss is more than just a number on a scale. Take your measurements before you start a weight loss program and then once per month after starting. You may not see much movement on the scale at first but weight loss can be reflected in inches lost too.
