Image of an antique pocket watch
Watches are considered antique when they are over 100 years old. Antique watches may be found in conditions that vary from mint, which means the watch has been used very little, to below average, which means damage is evident. Antique watches can be either pocket or wrist watches. They are found at antique jewelry stores, estate sales, online auctions or specialty jewelry stores. Setting an antique watch depends on the type of watch. It generally requires a few steps. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Set an antique pocket watch every day. Turn the small knob on the right-hand side of the watch, the "crown," in a clockwise motion until it cannot turn further.
2. Pull the crown on the pocket watch up and then turn it until the correct time is reached.
3. Push the crown down on the pocket watch. The watch is now set.
4. Set an antique wrist watch by turning the crown clockwise until you feel resistance. Stop turning at this point.
5. Pull the crown out fully and turn until the desired time is set on the wrist watch.
6. Push the crown back into the side of the watch and wind one more time to fully engage the gears. The watch is now set.
