If you need to know contact publicists or other public relations professionals to request an interview with celebrities, well-known authors or anyone else, the process is as easy as drafting an email. To do so, read on for an example of a straight forward approach for doing so.
Instructions
1. Find out the contact information for the person you would like to interview by visiting their website. Somewhere on their contact page, you should discover the information you're looking for. Search the website for the name of a publicist that manages press inquiries. This person is also referred to as "press" contact. Once found, make note of this information for later use.
2. Log in to your email account to compose or create a new email message. Be sure to type in the email address of the contact.
3. Type "Request for an Interview -- Name" in the subject line. Replace "Name" with the first and last name of the person you wish to interview.
4. Write your interview request. The following provides an example of a request for an interview. Include day of week or date. Follow up with "Dear Mr. -- or Ms. -- _____:" Next, get into the body of your request. For example: "I am a writer for -- name of publication or website -- which features information about the entertainment industry -- or whatever that publication or website is about. I write about _____ for the ____ column, and I would love to interview Mr. (or Ms.) _____. If Mr. -- or Ms. -- _____ is available, I can conduct the interview with him -- or her -- either through email or by phone. I prefer to do the interview via email, but if it's more convenient for Mr. -- or Ms. -- _____, we can schedule a phone interview." Close the letter with: "Please contact me and let me know if this could be arranged," followed by a salutation, your full name, title and the name of publication you represent along with a URL of the website you represent.
5. Proofread the email for any spelling or grammar errors. When finished, submit it.
