Use a MIDI keyboard to play the FL Studio guitar "live."
Fruity Loops Studio includes a built-in virtual instrument plugin that simulates the sound of an electric guitar. Use this plugin, which is called "Slayer," to make a guitar sound for your electronic music productions. Slayer can play either chords or single notes, and you can configure its options to get exactly the sound that you want. The instrument supports MIDI input, meaning that you can control it with either a MIDI keyboard or the Fruity Loops piano roll interface.
Instructions
1. Click the "Start" menu button. Type "FL Studio" into the Search box. Click the FL Studio icon to launch the program.
2. Click "Channels" and "Add one." Click "FL Slayer" to open the guitar.
3. Click the "Mode" drop-down menu in the Slayer window. Select "AutoChords" or "PowerChords" to make the guitar play chords, or select "Solo Fixed" or "Solo Dynamic" to play one string at a time.
4. Click on an amp and a cabinet in their respective columns. Different combinations of amp and cabinet produce guitar sounds with different sonic characters. For a basic guitar sound, select a "Tube" amp and a "British" cabinet. Adjust the amp's drive, presence, feedback and equalization using the knobs to the right of the "Cabinet" column.
5. Click the drop-down menu next to "MFX-90 Signal Processor" to add one of the guitar's effects, which include a talkbox, delay and flanger. If you don't want to use any effects, select "Dry."
6. Adjust the knobs on the virtual guitar's body to change its settings. You can adjust the tone, level of slap, harmonics and pitch bend.
7. Right-click "Slayer" in the "Pattern" window. Click "Piano Roll." Click notes in the piano roll to enter the notes that you want the guitar to play. Click the "Play" button to listen to the guitar. As you listen to the guitar, adjust the settings in the "Slayer" window until you get the sound you're looking for.
