Fruity Loops is a powerful piece of software for music production. With it, you can manipulate recorded sound, create new sounds, and sequence drum tracks. The functions of Fruity Loops expand and become easier to use with a Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) controller. A MIDI controller is a separate piece of equipment that, when connected to your computer, allows for the control of different parameters in the software. Audio software such as Fruity Loops was programmed with MIDI in mind, so integrating your MIDI controller into Fruity Loops is fairly easy.
Instructions
1. Connect your MIDI controller to your computer's USB port, using the appropriate USB cable. Your MIDI controller may also require drivers for it to connect properly with your computer. Check the manufacturer's website for the appropriate drivers, if any.
2. Turn on your MIDI controller if it has a separate power switch.
3. Open Fruity Loops 9.
4. Select the "Options" drop-down menu.
5. Select "MIDI Settings" under "System," or press "F10."
6. Locate your MIDI device under the Input and/or Output lists. If you do not see your device, click "Rescan MIDI Devices." If this does not work, close Fruity Loops and reconnect your MIDI controller.
7. Select your device in the desired list. If you wish to use your MIDI controller to input messages on the software, select it on input. If you wish to use your MIDI controller to manipulate the software's output, select it on output.
8. Check the box labeled "Enable." This will enable your MIDI controller for the desired function. If your controller has special drivers, select it under the "Controller Type" menu as well. If your controller does not have special drivers, it will probably appear as a generic controller.
9. Close the "MIDI Settings" box. Move the controls on your device to ensure that it is working properly.
