Freckles are considered attractive or unattractive, depending on whom you ask.
The verdict on freckles is often rather mixed: Some people love them, finding them adorable additions to the complexion; some people loathe them, likening them to blemishes like acne or warts.
According to the website ultimate-cosmetics.com, two types of freckles exist: the ephelides, a lighter freckle that most get in the summer months, which fades in the winter; and the lentigines, a darker freckle that most people get as children, which does not fade in the winter.
Regardless of the type of freckles you have, if you want, you can still get rid of or lighten them significantly with store-bought products that don't cost a fortune. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
Plan A for Eliminating Freckles
1. Purchase a bleaching cream that contains hydroquinone and kojic acid. If at all possible, talk to your doctor to get a prescription for cream that contains more than 2% of hydroquinone. Also ask for a prescription for tretinoin, another name for Retin-A, vitamin A cream that helps fight acne and can sometimes fade freckles.
2. Apply a thin layer of your bleaching cream once in the morning, after you have washed your face and patted it dry. Concentrate the application of the bleaching cream on the most affected area of freckles. Allow the bleaching cream to soak into your pores.
3. Add a layer of SPF 30 designed just for facial skin; apply that to your entire face before you leave the house in the morning.
4. Apply another thin layer of bleaching cream to your face at night, after you have washed your face and patted it dry. Once that layer of bleaching cream has soaked into your skin, add a thin layer of tretinoin, if your doctor has permitted you to use it.
5. Follow these steps daily for three months. If you don't see an improvement after three months, stop using both the bleaching cream and the tretinoin, then try the following steps.
A Home Remedy as Plan B
6. Apply a thin layer of sour cream to your face daily after you wash and pat it dry. Add a thicker layer of sour cream to the areas that have a heavy concentration of freckles. Leave the mask on for five minutes.
7. Wipe the mask off your skin by using several soft tissues. Do not rinse the sour cream off with water. The goal is to still leave a very thin, unnoticeable layer of sour cream on your skin.
8. Dab a few dots of a non-chemical moisturizer into your skin. Rub in gently. Perform this routine every day for several weeks to obtain the best results.
