Sell A Man'S Wedding Band

You can sell your wedding band if you need to.

Men don't have to keep their wedding bands if the marriage ends. The wedding band is a symbol of commitment that is no longer necessary if a divorce occurs. Like most items, wedding bands depreciate over time, but you can still get a pretty penny for them if you know the right procedure to follow.

Instructions

1. Get your wedding band appraised if you aren't sure of it's worth. The appraiser will also be able to give you details you will need when selling your ring, such as what material the band is made of, as well as the size of the band.

2. Take close-up pictures of the ring to add to the details you gathered from the appraisal. You will need the pictures, especially if you plan to sell your wedding band online.

3. Contact the local jewelers in your area before resorting to using the Internet to sell your ring. Take your ring and the details from the appraiser to local jewelers that purchase used jewelry. Sell your ring to one of the local jewelers if his offer falls close to the figure the appraiser gave you. Most jewelers will give you cash right then and there, and you won't have to worry about the shipping and handling that comes with selling the wedding band online.

4. Contact online companies that buy wedding bands outright. Both Circa Jewels and Broken Engagement purchase wedding bands (see "Resources"). Provide them with your pictures and ring details and wait for them to make you an offer. If the offer is acceptable, sell your wedding band.

5. List your wedding band for sale on an auction site. Post your pictures and details so potential buyers have the information they need to make a decision. List the band for the amount you need to get for it, or place a reserve bid on the ring so you don't end up selling it for less than it's worth. Clearly state whether you or the buyer is responsible for the shipping charges.
