Locate Fitness Clubs With Pools

Water aerobics are great nonstress exercise for sensitive joints.

Choosing a gym can be a challenging task. There are so many different fitness programs and choices that it can be overwhelming. Choose a gym that has a pool for water aerobics or lap swimming. Some gyms only offer a lap pool, while others offer a pool where group exercises are held. Do your homework when researching a gym. Make a list of questions and a list of amenities you are unwillingly to compromise on.

Instructions

1. Research gyms in your area. Call around or visit their websites to find out if they have pool facilities. The Gym Locator website provides a list of gyms and fitness centers when you enter your ZIP code.

2. Visit the gyms in your area. Schedule tours of the facilities. Ask questions. Do they have a pool? If they do have a pool, ask about pool use. Is the pool area clean? Do they offer towels for pool users?

3. Talk to the staff, including trainers, of each facility. Are they professional? Ask to see their credentials. If they don't have any, move to another facility. Ask if they are trained in CPR and first aid.

4. Look at the pool equipment. Is it new? Do they perform regular, scheduled maintenance? Do they have security cameras?

5. Do they offer group water aerobics classes? Are the classes included in the gym membership? What times are they offered? Do you have to register for the classes beforehand?

6. Check out the hours of operation. Some gyms are open 24 hours a day, while others may be open during set times.

7. Look at what amenities are being offered. Some gyms have a steam room and sauna, while others may only have showers. If you are choosing between two gyms, the additional amenities may be the tipping point that helps you make a decision.

8. Look at online reviews of the gyms for feedback from other members. You may find out some important things that you weren't told by the fitness club staff.
