Cargo trailers are extremely useful for both storage and travel. While parking your cargo trailer in a garage is a simple way to protect it from the elements and potential vandalism, it isn't as simple as just backing into the garage. There are a few steps that you should take while parking your cargo trailer in your garage that will prevent any damage to either the trailer or the garage.
Instructions
1. Measure the height of your cargo trailer with the tape measure. While most 5X8 cargo trailers measure 6-feet-9-inches in height, it is important to determine the exact measurements of your trailer.
2. Measure the dimensions of your garage door with the tape measure. Be sure to measure the height and width. Garage doors vary in size, so it is important to determine whether your garage door is large enough to safely admit your cargo trailer.
3. Measure the height, width and depth of your garage with the tape measure. This will help you determine if you have enough space to safely park your trailer in the garage.
4. Determine if your cargo trailer will fit through your garage door and into your garage. At least 3-inches of clearance is suggested on all sides of the garage door. At least 6-inches of clearance is suggested on all sides within the garage.
5. Hook your cargo trailer up to your truck. Back your trailer into the garage. Proceed slowly and carefully so as to avoid any damage to either the trailer or the garage.
6. Unhook your trailer from your truck.
